SEO: Keyword Research from Your Firefox Browser

Oct 15, 2009

You already know that I’m a Firefoxaholic. I really love the browser and all it’s cool stuff, and today, I found another great add-on that is SEO oriented.

You know how you can search from your Navigation Toolbar? I have a bunch of stuff in there that makes searching in my favorite places really easy. You can add stuff like Amazon, the IMDB (Internet Movie Database), and even look up domains on GoDaddy.

Today, I found a way to do some quick keyword research from there, too, at a site called Keyword Index (http://www.keywordindex.com) . It’s not as comprehensive as some sites, like SEOBook, for example. But… you can check the keyword at Google Trends, Google Insights, and at Bing’s xRank, which gives you a keyword’s popularity there. Neat!

I can’t say I’d use it for hard research, but it’s pretty sweet for a  quick lookup for an article or whatever. You can also get the plugin for the Google Toolbar in case you’re still a bit of a Luddite and prefer Internet Explorer. Poor you.

Another add-on for Firefox that I’ve found really, really useful lately is Lazarus: Form Recovery, which you can pick up at http://lazarus.interclue.com/ I love it so much that I had to donate and here’s why:

Have you ever filled out an interminably long form or done an article submission and the site locks up on you? Or for whatever reason, you don’t get to finish the form? Lazarus keeps the information for you, and with the click of a mouse, it’s all restored! God, I LOVE that! It’s happened to me so many times and is so frustrating that well… Lazarus keeps me from kicking the waste basket and needing to pick up all the trash on the floor.

Get it!  Seriously, get it and give them some money. They deserve it for coming up with a really great add-on.

The last one I want to tell you about today is Video Download Helper, which you can get at: http://www.downloadhelper.net . Yeah, so it works like this: You come across a video you like, or someone uploads a video that you need to copy to your computer. You just tell the icon in your navigation toolbar to download it and BOOM! It’s on your hard drive.

This may not be a big deal for some people but hey… we do a lot of video at Overcome Everything and having a way to just grab a video without having to go through the FTP thing is neat-o.

OK… that’s it! Three awesome add-ons that you should have. So… whatcha waiting for? Go grab them!

    “Luddite” I needed a laugh.

You can do all of that with the free SEOBook. What a boon that is. More than I can fully use, too.

Lazarus sounds good, though I don’t know how robust a browser can be with too may plug-ins.

    I use Orbit for video.

Thanks for the read. Will Tweet.
