Hey,
As you know, earlier this month, I launched my teleseminar series, Blogging4Boomers.com, and the membership site to accompany it.
Well…
For the membership site software, I chose Launch Formula Marketing, partly because I’d heard that it was uber customizable and because my friend, Robert Puddy is a partner in the site. Seemed like a good idea, right?
Hmm…
I had more damned trouble than I can shake a stick at. The software is like $250, and I had to pay a programmer another $250 just to get it running the way I wanted it to.
But it wasn’t the fault of the software, just so you know. It was “stupid user syndrome.” I put it into an add-on domain, which was my total fault for thinking I could do something on my own. EHHHHH… Wrong.
I’m moving the site to it’s own hosting account very shortly. It will solve a lot of the problems I’ve been having and make my affiliate links look a whole lot better.
But there is something you should know…
The OTOs don’t seem to work properly. When someone buys one, it doesn’t send the person back to see OTO#2, it just sends them back to the membership site. Not good. I paid someone very special to fix it and all the other issues I’ve had over the past month or so, and his work is sublime.
Are you hungry for a good programmer? I know they’re kind of hard to find, and then, you don’t know whom to trust and son on…
Lawrence Bowen is that guy.
He does his work, tells you how much time it took (and he doesn’t fudge), and he charges a reasonable fee.
In fact, here’s his website: http://myphpguru.com
No strings. Not an affiliate link. Just passing along a solid recommendation.
I’d have lost my mind without him.
All will be right with the world again very soon. Start off installing LFM the right way, and fix the OTO problem and you have a heck of a good software.

Hey,
Just a heads up. Things are really gearing up. Tonight, I have for you one of the nicest guys on the Internet.
In case you don’t know who that is…
He started Affiliate Showcase and built it into the huge affiliate marketing site that it is today.
He started JVAlert, a place where marketers could find other marketers and make great deals.
He created a family with JVAlertLive.
And I was lucky enough to have been part of it earlier this month. You know who I’m talking about, of course. It’s Ken McArthur.
So, what’s Ken have to do with blogging?
Ken doesn’t email his list much, you see. I mean, he does, but instead of trying to promote from his email, he sends his list to his blog, where you can read of Ken’s recent adventures and interesting stuff surrounding his new book and website The Impact Factor.
So, that’s what we’ll be talking about tonight… How you can create an impenetrable bond with your audience using a blog.
See you at 8?
EVENT: Ken McArthur on Affiliate Marketing
DATE & TIME: Tuesday, February 26th at 8:00pm Eastern
FORMAT: Simulcast! (Attend via Phone or Webcast — it’s your choice)

Have you ever used “nofollow” tags on your website? If you aren’t using them, you definitely should be.
For example, if you have a PR4 page and you have links to 10 sites on that page, each of the pages is getting the benefit of 1/10 of the strength of that PR4 page. You’re bleeding page rank, if you’re using follow-through links to pages like support, about us, or any other page that you don’t want to rank in the search engine results.
The solution is the “nofollow” tag. When you use that tag, the search engine spiders stop when they see it, and the page the link is on won’t be affected.
Here’s how a “nofollow” link looks: <a href=”http://ovweb.net/about.html” rel=”nofollow”>About Us</a>
So, it’s smart to use the “nofollow” tag on any page that you don’t want to appear in the search engine results pages. You’ll find that this strategy works as well on websites as it does with blogs.

As an aside, this week is heating up. Ben Mack will be joining me on Wednesday at 9 p.m. for a little Guerilla Balance Sheet conversation. Go over to http://Blogging4Boomers.com and sign up for the calls, wether you’re a Boomer or not. It’s going to be chock full of great information!

Wow! Last week was an awesome week. The people involved in my new teleseminar series told their people about the calls, and my list just whoa… Expanded. And things just keep getting better and better.
This week is call week 1. First, we have a general Blogging4Boomers Q&A call. Opt-in as a free member and get the information. You can’t really get the full benefit of the site, unless you become a full member, but the calls will convince you. This will be fun! They start tomorrow night, Monday, February 18 at 8 p.m. EST (GMT -5)
Tuesday kicks off my Blogging4Boomers teleseminar series with Mike Paetzold, a real blogging guy and a very good friend. I’ve know Mike for about 4 years now and have learned a lot from him. You will, too. So, get over to Blogging4Boomers and opt-in. We have a great lineup, but this call will be on Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST (GMT -5)
There’s a slight chance that there will be a third call this week with another friend that you’ll recognize instantly. I’m hoping he can join us because he’s always fun and totally interesting.
So, you can guess this is going to be a very busy week for Blogging4Boomers !
Come on, learn a LOT and join the fun!

So, I wrote about JVAlert yesterday and here come some great people I met making comments, like Paul Easton, who I got to spend some time with and really, really enjoyed, and Stuart Tan, who totally rocks, but I got to spend hardly any time with at all. That’s my mission next time, Stuart.
But at the end of all that came the traditional comments from people in the audience and whatnot, right? People were standing up making these awesome statements about what they’d learned and how the conference had affected them. Jeff Wellman was totally inspiring. (And he’s a pretty funny guy, totally.)
But then came this sweet dark-haired girl who for some reason, I’d missed. I had just about met everyone in the room. She started by telling us about her site, which helps you to make video squeeze pages, which to me, is ultra cool. And then, she mentioned that she was about to lose her home to foreclosure. And she started crying.
Oh… my… god…
She asked for JV partners to promote for her, so I like, totally rushed up to the front of the room to give her my business card along with about 20 other people, at least. It was just an extremely moving moment. One of those that makes you see how “family” JVAlertLive can be.
So, I promoted for her yesterday. Tons of people signed up for her site! Was I happy? Of course. I mean, I don’t even know this woman really, but it just felt really, really good to help. Oh, and I made some money along the way, which wasn’t too bad, either.
If you want to check out her site, it’s at http://easyseotricks.com/VOP
She did an awesome job with it and she’s got a really good product. Heck, I bought it!
Check it out, if nothing else. I’m sure it will improve your list size by leaps and bounds.
Kathleen, you rock!

Whoa…
Sorry I’ve been so behind on letting you in on the results of that product that me and 71 other Internet marketers did at the JVAlertLive seminar in Orlando, FL. It rocked!
I never had so much fun creating a product, which is usually like bleeding from the soul. There’s so much planning and preparation and build up and usually by the time the product is finished, you’re exhausted and too emotionally beat up to sell it. But you do, anyway.
But this was a trip. We all had to write one great tip about joint venturing, a testimonial for the product, and provide a bonus. People like Eric Stafford (The Faster Webmaster), Ross Goldberg, Stuart Tan, Paul Easton, Cindy Parker, Mike Paetzold, Steve Roye, Andy Duncan, and on and on where there, too, so there were some pretty awesome tips. So, what resulted was a really cool book about JVs and about $5,000 in products. Joel Comm got on the video, while suffering from the flu, made a video headline for the page, and we were off and running.
Joel actually left early, which was a bummer. I really wanted to meet him and thank him for some stuff he sent me last year via Tellman, but he got sick, and so Eric Holmlund and Dan Nickerson led us through this exercise, and we were all scurrying to get stuff typed and emailed to Eric so he could create the .pdf and it was inSANE!!!
The copywriting team came up with a killer headline. I typed like the wind with about 7 other typists (well, Paul Easton had to read the testimonials to me, LOL), and we all had a great time. We even made money! And to think this happened in just 90 minutes. Very cool
But that wasn’t the coolest thing about JVAlertLive. There were at least 10 cool things and people: Ken McArthur, of course, is a gracious and wonderful host and he attfacted presenters like Dave Lakhani, Brandon Bouchard, Christine Comaford-Lynch, Kevin Nations, and Jermaine Griggs. I know I missed someone. Oh, yeah… Jaime Luchuck and the other cast members from The Next Internet Millionaire. Good people.
Christine is going to be part of my teleseminar series, which is awesome! I’m very excited because she’s just awesome. I hope you’ll register for the calls at Blogging4Boomers.com . You don’t have to be a Boomer. I am, and just thought it was a cool domain so I bought it. But what I’d like to do is to help Baby Boomers (like me) create their retirement from online income. (A lot of us are worried about that.)
The site’s doing great, actually. Lots of people are coming in every day. We’ve had about 2,000 people register in just the first couple of days, and thre will only be phone lines for 200, though you can attend on the Web.
But, if you want to be on the first call–register. It will be Tuesday evening (Feb. 19th) and with Mike Paetzold, an old friend (whom I just met at the seminar, after 4 years of knowing him), who will teach you tons of stuff about having a WordPress blog. He’s just awesome and I know you’ll learn a LOT.
I’m really looking forward to having you on the calls.

Whoa.
So, like we’re creating a product here. Everyone is working on it from Ross Goldberg to Eric Holmlund to Mike Paetzold and Steve Roye, to Eric Stafford… A whole BUNCH of very smart and very cool people. This is one of the sweetest deals you’ll ever find, too. It’s not ready yet, but listen…
Come back in an hour or so, and you’ll get $5,000 + worth of IM stuff for just $7.
Yes. That’s right… SEVEN bucks! So, skip a Starbucks. This is way better for you and won’t put on the weight like a frappacino (my nemesis) will.
Oh, and did I mention that whatever Joel Comm makes from this goes to charity?
Nice.
Come back, check this out. You’re gonna flip!
