Danny is a hoot! Here’s his interpretation of an article I wrote for OE. Check it out. I love his videos! Hope you will, too:

Isn’t he great? He’s a total entertainer, and his videos always make me smile. He’s an awesome individual, to boot.

Can’t go wrong listening to my friend, Danny.

Hey everyone…

I’ve had kind of a rough day today, and I’m really tired. Not your problem, right? :) No, it’s not, and in my effort to produce solid content for you every day, I’m going to rely on something some good friends of mine wrote about their new product. Here’s the skinny:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We’ve all had bad days as marketers, but some are much worse than others. While bad luck happens and poor sales days aren’t uncommon, sometimes something much more sinister is at play. There are hackers and script-running marketers out there to steal your affiliate commissions, and it could be costing you thousands of dollars, every year. These unethical marketers operate through spyware and secret ad programs, which automatically convert affiliate links into their own, stealing your commissions and earning them cash.
It’s highly unethical, and it gives real marketers a bad name. While you put in the hard work creating landing pages, mastering PPC campaigns, and building dedicated SEO resources, these leeches are out there coding their bots, ready to steal your hard work and turn it into their own conversions. While affiliate networks fight against this sort of behavior, there’s little that they can do. After all, the traffic looks the same, and the sales are genuine. It’s just the method that’s horribly unethical.
Of course, there are two ways to deal with the problem. The first is to get mad about the situation and try to fight the leeches head on. You can report them, follow them, and tell other affiliates about them. While it certainly makes things more difficult for them, it’s not a solution that’s going to bring you any more sales. Hackers are sharp, and always looking for a new solution. When you call them out, they simply run away and build a better bot. continue reading »
So yeah… Saturday night was something that only an Internet marketer could dream about.
Really.
Matt Bacak had a birthday party for Mark Joyner and 120 people were invited. If your name wasn’t on the list, you were out, baby. I was both honored and delighted that my name was on that list. I know it was thanks to Tellman, but hey… I got to be there!
(If you really hate gushy stuff, now it’s time to stop reading. Thanks for coming. I can’t help it. I’m totally psyched!)
Think of any big-time marketer and he or she was probably there. Stephen Pierce showed up, just for the party. And the usual suspects were there. People who had already presented, people going to present on Sunday, and some friends of mine like Carrie Wilkerson (the Barefoot Executive) and Perry Lawrence (Ask Mr. Video) and folks I’ve come to know through Tellman like Ric Thompson (HealthyWealthynWise.com) and Harris Fellman. And other folks I didn’t recognize, but if they were at the party, I guarantee they were smart marketers. It was awesome! I never, ever, ever dreamed I’d be in a room with people I looked up to for so long. continue reading »
I really love going to conferences. Not only are they a great way to meet people face to face and to build relationships, but you learn a lot or at least get some great ideas while you’re there. I scripted a video that I’m going to use as a sales letter while I was there, and I’m thinking it should do pretty well. (Hoping, anyway.)
And I’ve been to different types of conferences: JVAlert (which I love because it’s like a family), StomperNet, Bill Harris and Brad Antin’s “How to Think Like a Marketer,” and Michael Penland’s Super Conference. All of them were great for different reasons.
But…
I have never been to a “Legends of Internet Marketing” type conference. I mean, usually there are a few big names but we’re talking every single presenter! And the other folks there were the rest of the IM world. It was a real concentration of Internet marketing POWER!
On Saturday morning Marshall Sylver presented, and I have to say I’ve never seen him in person. Wow! It was a real treat. For me, it wasn’t what he taught, it was how he presented. Smooth, baby. He rocked the house! And when it came time for people to go to the back of the room, at least a quarter of the people in the audience did just that. He was that good. I thought that Robert Allen was smooth, and he is, but Marshall is like ice on glass. continue reading »
So, even Tellman flew in for this, and I have to say that the caliber of speaker that this conference is presenting is top notch.
Mark Joyner, who I finally was able to meet in person, did the keynote. He has the right idea. Are we in a recession? Since the two preceeding quarters determines it, are we or aren’t we? WE DON”T KNOW! And if you don’t get your butts busy, no telling when this whole Internet ballgame’s rules will change. We just had a sample with all the new FTC stuff, eh? I think Mark’s right, but that’s no surprise. :)
Then, Matt Bacak did a great talk on proper joint venturing. Unless you are these guys or work for them, you can’t possibly understand how many stupid proposals they get from perfect strangers every day. Clue: It’s all in the relationship you build with people and how much you can do for them, NOT the other way around. That comes later. Right on, Matt! You go, dude.
Anyone recognize the name Robert Allen? Well… If you don’t, you haven’t been in this business very long. I have to say that his close at the end of his talk was smooth as silk. Wow! I already have one of the best teachers in the biz, but I hafta tell you… if I was looking for coaching, he’d have had me pulling out my plastic. continue reading »
SEO: Bing Talks Linking
1 December 2009
Unless you’ve had your head in the SEO sand, you know that there’s a new search engine to reckon with. It’s not really new. Bing is just MSN Live revamped in a very good way. And the new kid on the block is getting market share. Will it usurp Google’s top spot? Not likely, at least for a very long time, but you just never know. Who ever heard of Google before 1998, right?
So, Bing released a new article in its Community: Link Building for Smart Webmasters which talks about natural, organic link building. Hmm… they actually could be Google clones.
We know the right ways: article marketing, blog commenting (not spamming), press releases, yadda, yadda. But they also mention that reciprocal linking is cool… IF you’re linking to sites in your niche. Linking to sites with no relation to what you’re doing won’t help you and in some instances can actually hurt.
So, let’s focus on stuff that will cause you harm: continue reading »
Copywriting Triggers
18 November 2009
As an Internet marketer, you either have to learn to write good copy or you have to hire someone to do it for you.  Tellman and Jodi used to write all the copy for everything we did at Overcome Everything, until Tellman hired Josh Burns. Josh has only been working for the company a little over a year, I think, but he’s learned some wicked cool stuff, and is a natural born copywriter. Even he didn’t know that!
Anyway, here’s a video he made, called simply, “Triggers.” You’ll learn a lot, so sit back, and enjoy watching.
Oh, you’ve seen the sites. “Just $49 and we’ll submit your site to a gazillion search engines! It’s great for SEO! It’s amazing! Give us your money!”
PFFFTTT!!!
This is just one of those bullshit services that newbies fall for.
Here’s the deal… DO NOT pay anyone for search engine listings. The robots will find you, even if you have no keywords in your title, even if you have a crappy description, even if you’ve only been online for a week. Robots will find your page and decide whether to rank it or whether to come back at all.
Want to see if the search bots have seen your page and when?
Just type your domain into the search engine and see what comes up. At Google, if you click in the “Cached” link under the description for your site, you can see your page and the date and time that Google last visited. If it was the current day or yesterday, cool! You’re updating often. If it was a month ago, you have problems, brothers and sisters. You need to add some fresh stuff to your site or you’ll never rank in the SERPs (search engine results pages) at all.
Bing also has a “Cached Page” link that you can check out, but they’re still slower than Google. Google had my page from yesterday, while Bing hadn’t been there since 11/5. You know how often I post, so…
Yahoo also has a “Cached” link, but it wasn’t working, so… I can’t comment on its frequency by using this technique.
But there is a foolproof way: You can also go into your hosting account’s c-Panel dashboard to check this out. Most have a feature called “AWStats,” which tells you quite a lot of information, including which search bots visited and how many times they came during the month and even how many times they successfully accessed your “robots.txt” file. continue reading »
Listen, I just got word that Russell Bruson is giving away his 90-minute on-stage lecture from StomperNet that he did back in August. I wasn’t able to go to that because I was heading out for his Mastermind the day after it ended. Jumping from Atlanta to Las Vegas just wasn’t an option for me, so I’m thrilled that I’m getting to hear his keynote address because well…
As you know, I got very sick during the Mastermind. I got to spend ONE day there, when it was supposed to have been four. I mean, I was crushed. People like Keith Wellman, Amit Mehta, Chris Guerrero, Joe Lavery, Soren Jordanson and Cindy Battye, and Michael Cheney were all there and lots of other people with really successful businesses. I mean, it was like really, really cool.
In that ONE day, I learned more from Russell and the folks there than you can imagine. I mean, really cutting edge stuff. It was awesome!
And guess what? Russell is giving some of his incredible tactics away. He’s just giving this stuff away!
So, you have to check it out. If you don’t… don’t cry to me because you missed it. I’m not sure how long he’ll be letting everyone see this for zero dollars, but hey… you really need to go to the site, opt in and take notes!
I’m headed back over now, but I wanted to share this with you really quick: http://easyseotricks.com/12months
Get crackin’! Russell took his business from zero to 8 figures this year in about 5 years. That’s incredible!
And what in the world does that have to do with marketers? Well… I found a connection and Danny Frank put the idea into this short video. Check it out. Danny has a way with video that really makes my articles come to life!
